Competency Assessment


Undertaking the Competency Assessment Course will help both employers and employees to identify any areas of concern, up-skill operators and ensure workplace policies and procedures along with any changes to OHS/WHS and WorkSafe legislation are kept current.

Prerequisites

This course is designed for people who have already obtained a valid photo forklift licence. The course focuses on increasing workplace health and safety awareness and guidance about safe forklift operation.

Compliance

Competency Assessment is not only essential to ensure safe work practices but also a legal requirement for employers with WorkSafe regulations requiring site specific and refresher forklift driver training.

Course Structure

The Competency Assessment Course covers safe operation and assesses attitudes towards safety in the workplace, including the following:

• Check and assess equipment

• Hazard identification

• Conduct pre and post operational checks

• Shift loads safely

• Shut down and secure equipment

• LPG decanting and changing bottles, demonstration and practical test

• Verbal and theory questions

Students will be assessed using the following methods;

• Practical demonstration

• Knowledge, verbal and theory questions

• Skills, operations of the equipment

Course Outcomes

A certificate of completion will be issued for the competent completion of the assessment.

Entry Requirements
Students must have a current High Risk Work licence to operate a forklift.
